Apply nowSelected entrepreneurs receive non-dilutive financial and technical assistance to evaluate technologies and develop commercialization plans in collaboration with their chosen Technology Partners. The program focuses on technologies sourced through these approved institutions or the entrepreneur’s own research. It is not intended to fund existing businesses or research on the program framework.
Commercialization plans should include a proto-startup team that considers product, market, financing, and team structure.
The Discovery Phase concludes with a pitch to the Chevron Studio Joint Advisory Committee, which then selects entrepreneurs to move on to the Scale-Up Phase.
Entrepreneurs selected after completion of the Discovery Phase will form a company (if not already formed) and work with their Technology Partner institutions to scale up and demonstrate these technologies at a minimum viable commercial scale or Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
Chevron Studio provides supplementary non-dilutive funding through a grant and a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) to support the required scale-up activities. During this phase, entrepreneurs receive technical and business assistance from their Technology Partners and research innovators to accelerate development and validation of their technologies.
The Scale-Up Phase typically spans 12 to 24 months and concludes with a final report detailing progress, technical competitiveness, commercial viability, and intended next steps. Companies are expected to raise additional external financing, and selected entrepreneurs present their results to the Chevron Studio Joint Advisory Committee for consideration to advance to the Field Trial Phase.
Companies that graduate from the Scale-Up Phase may be offered an opportunity to conduct field trials at a Chevron or related facility to demonstrate the scalability and value of their innovations.
Chevron Studio provides non-dilutive grant funding to support these trials.
This phase enables companies to validate their technologies under real-world conditions, strengthen their commercial readiness, and showcase their potential impact before broader deployment.
